Auto Publish Posts

Due to Instagram limitations, images for Auto Publish posts must meet the following guidelines:

  • Maximum file size: 8MB (larger file sizes will be compressed and image quality will be reduced)
  • Supported file types: JPEG, PNG, BMP, and non-animated GIFs
  • Aspect ratio: 1.91:1 to 4:5 (landscape and portrait images will show as a centre-cropped square on your Instagram grid)
  • Minimum resolution: 150 x150 (lower resolutions will be scaled up to the minimum)
  • Maximum resolution: 1920 x1080 (higher resolutions will be scaled down to the maximum)
  • Image color profile: SRGB

Important: Images larger than 1920 x 1080 resolution or 8MB in size will be compressed when publishing. This will reduce the image resolution and quality. To maintain the best image resolution, make sure your image is less than 1920 x 1080 and 8MB (or less than 6MB if you’re editing your image in Later).

Important: Instagram doesn’t support ProPhoto RGB, the standard color profile in Photoshop and Lightroom. If you use it, your images could look washed out when published.

Note: If your image doesn’t meet Instagram’s size, aspect ratio, and resolution guidelines, Instagram may crop and resize the image for the feed. The image quality may be lower on your feed compared to the individual post view.
