Having a strong hashtag strategy is key in getting more eyes on your posts and can help grow your Instagram audience. Use Later’s Hashtag Analytics to optimize and measure the hashtag from your posts and comments to understand which hashtags are leading to the most discoverability for your posts!

Important: 

  • Hashtag Analytics for Instagram is available on all of Later’s business plans, from Premium and up.
  • Both Business Instagram profiles and regular Instagram profiles have access to this feature 
  • Hashtag Analytics measures the hashtags used in your captions 
  • Hashtags used within your Instagram stories are not included within this feature 

Where to find your Instagram Hashtag Analytics? 

Click on the Analytics tab on the left side menu and then select Hashtag Analytics from the top menu: 

Using Later’s Hashtag Analytics to Find Your Top Performing Hashtags 

You can filter your Hashtag Analytics results by:

  • Hashtag (alphabetically)
  • Post Count
  • Likes
  • Comments
  • Impressions
  • Reach
  • Saves

Use this data to see which hashtags are driving the most engagement for your posts. Once you find your top performing hashtags, you can use them more often to get even more engagement and traction for your business.

How to Find Your Top Performing Hashtags: 

Use your filters to see which posts are performing the best, the list you see will be divided by which hashtag is being used on each post. 

The shade of pink indicates the success of each of metric, the darker the pink the higher that metric is ranking. 


For example, if growing your Instagram follower base is your main goal, you might want to filter by Impressions and Reach. You will need to filter by each one at a time. Then make note of which hashtags are being used for the posts which rank the highest when the filters are applied. 

This can help you refine your hashtag strategy by eliminating the hashtags that aren’t getting you results, while doubling-down on the ones that are.

To make things even easier, you can further filter by date range. 

  • The last 7 days
  • The last month
  • The last 3 months
  • A specified & customizable date range

This is important because 3 months ago you may have had a very successful campaign using specific hashtags, however, those hashtags might not be relevant to your current Instagram strategy. 

You can also use the date range filters to discover which hashtags are consistently driving more engagement or impressions on your posts over time.

Here you can gain key performance insights into data relating to Hashtags used within your posts.
